MESA (Movement & Ecology for Art)

MESA Dance Camp is a five-day immersive journey of dance, ritual, and creative generosity on a 120 acre conservation land trust in SW Colorado. Late May/Early June each year. 2027 dates TBA

Sometimes as artists, we need to gather to renew the commitment to what it is, we serve. To remember that what we create in the world is a gift, that what we do matters. I know you struggle, but when you take that struggle and make something beautiful the world is renewed. I think that a big part of what we do on the MESA is to heal the broken hearts of the artists, the beauty makers, and the dreamers. We take the broken pieces, the relics and the ruins of all those who came before us who tried to make a better world. And with the pieces, we actually put them back together again, the very soul and spirit of those who tried and gave their vision from love as they walked their path for the benefit of all their relations. What you do matters. Don’t give up because when the path is obscure, and the steppingstones are few and far between set upon shifting sands eroding, you will be made to let go, and in that surrender of the self, which somehow is a requirement if you want to reach the next word, you will see another there beside you and another and another. And you will realize the society of dreamers is real, and that we are all dreamers on the road and time can be rebuilt like an altar, and no piece of the past shall be left discarded. It shall be taken in hand again and again to build the temple of today. And healing is real, and the gratitude of your relatives will ripple down the ages as they too are healed by what you do, what you make, what you give. Take care of each other, especially the ones that are left behind. The road is scattered with clues and you may find remnants of things that were too heavy to carry by one who came before you. But remember you are a beauty maker and with those pieces you are building the next world again and again and again. Thank you makers. Thank you dreamers. Thank you artists. Thank you for teaching me and walking the path with me for the benefit of all our relations.
